（1）记住短文和短篇会话具体内容
由于TOEFL听务Part C的短文和对话内容比Part A和Part B长4-12倍，后接5-8个问题，问题数量是Part B的5-8倍。因此，记住所听的内容是能否准确答题的关键。
要记住短文和短篇会话内容，无非是记住：Who(谁——短文或会话中涉及的人)、Where (地点——短文中或会话中涉及的场合或地点)、When(时间)、What(发生的事情或涉及的问题)、HOW（事情是如何发生的）、Why
(为什么会发生这类事) 。如果把上述的who、where、when、that、how和why的内容记住了，那么，短文的具体内容也就基本记住了。
当然，并非每篇短文或对话都涉及上述内容的所有方面。或许，有的短文或对话只涉及上述六个内容（who, where, when, what, how和why）中的三个或四个方面。
（2）熟悉考题提问方式
Part C提问方式几乎完全围绕上述六个内容。例如：
Voice: Woman: Excuse me, Dr. Taylor. Your secretary said I should come
right in.
Dr. Taylor: Please do, Jenny. How can I help you?
Woman: I need to get your signature on my schedule card.
Here, on the line of advice's approval.
Dr. Taylor: Sure, Let's look at it together first. How many courses
do you take?
Woman: Six.
Dr. Taylor: Six? That is quite a heavy load. Any particular reason?
Woman: I had to drop my chemistry course last semester when I was in
the hospital. So I need to take it
again.
Dr. Taylor: I see, Chemistry, calculus. Oh! I see you will be in
my seminar on my American Novel.
Woman: Yes, I am looking forward to it. And I'll take a poetry seminar
too.
Dr. Taylor: Two seminars. That is quite a lot. Can you handle the
work?
Woman: I think so. The Introduction of Economy is easy. So is the
music course.
Dr. Taylor: Well, I'll be happy to sign the card. However, I insist
that you come to see me after the fist
week of the classes. So, we can make sure if it's too much
for you.
Woman: That is the promise.

（3）加强平时听力训练
听力一般很难在短期内有较大的提高。因此，考生应平时坚持天天练习听英语广播，收看英语电视节目，通过较长时间的“耳濡目染”，才有可能有较大的提高。可以把一些英语广播节目和电视节目的内容录下来，反复听，反复练。条件允许的考生，最好进由有考托福经验的教师授课的托福班，在短时间内进行强化训练，以便在听力方面有较大的突破。
